Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Thought Police

Our fat-ass El Presidente is a fraud -- a racketeer, a mob boss and a wanna-be dictator.  He took another clear step into Big Brother territory by issuing a ban on the use of seven words at the Centers For Disease Control.  Freedom of speech is just fake news?  Somewhere, George Carlin is laughing, crying, or spinning in his grave.  Maybe all three at once.

When you think you can tell the CDC or the EPA or any part of the government or the public at large which words -- words! -- are acceptable and which words are thought crimes, you're no longer a representative of the people sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution, you're a malign autocrat who must be removed.

These are dark times, and we're drawing ever nearer to the crisis stage.  Our system of democracy has mechanisms to protect us and prevent this sort of despotic behavior.  I hope we have the moral strength to use them and end this stain on our history.
