Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Morally Bankrupt

Just two weeks after pulling all funding for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, the Republican National Committee inexplicably changed its mind and restored its financial support to the Gross Old Pervert (GOP).  The RNC will throw a million dollars into Moore's final campaign push.

Why?  Who knows?  What has changed? Nothing.  Perhaps they were swayed by Moore's spokesperson Janet Porter, who recently offered this doozy of tortured what-aboutism:

"We need to make it clear there's a group of non-accusers that have not accused the judge of any sexual misconduct or anything illegal."

Well, of course!  What about all those girls he didn't molest?  For the bank robber, what about all the banks he didn't rob?  For the murderer, what about all the people he didn't kill?

I don't know if there are enough people of intelligence and integrity in Alabama to elect Doug Jones.  But I do know the Republican party is morally bankrupt.  They are more than willing to sell their sister for a vote, for power.
