Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Nowhere Near Normal

This is embarrassing.  This is not normal.  Don't let it become normal.

The past few days of seething, strutting, whining and cringe-inducing stupidity, courtesy of the Disputatious Don:

Called Kim Jong Un, who had his own uncle executed for treason, a "smart cookie."  (You know Trump would love to be able to rub out a few enemies.)

Invited Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte to the White House for a state visit.  Duterte is a killer thug dictator who's had thousands of his own citizens executed without due process.  (Trump's kind of guy!)

Complained to Fox News that the U.S. Constitution (which he is sworn to uphold), with all its checks and balances that prevent Trump from being Duterte, is "a very rough system.  It's an archaic system.  It's really a bad thing for the country."  (#Failing Constitution.  Sad!)

Called Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" again.  (I'd pay good money to see Trump locked in a phone booth with Elizabeth Warren and Maxine Waters.  The grrrls would school his ignorant ass in a New York minute!)

Claimed that Russian hacking and other election interference "had nothing to do with us."  (Both the FBI and CIA have said the evidence conclusively shows that Russia was trying to help Trump and harm Clinton.)

Said he thought this whole president-thing would be easier:  "This is more work than my previous life.  I thought it would be easier.  I loved my previous life."  (Well, Donny Boy, don't let us stop you.  Please return to your previous life at your earliest convenience.  Today would be great!)

Says that his latest health care scheme "covers pre-existing conditions beautifully."  (If letting states opt out of guaranteed issue and isolate people with pre-existing conditions in leper colonies known as high-risk pools, and charge those folks impossibly expensive premiums, is your idea of "beautiful".)

(And remember, Bernstein broke the Watergate scandal which brought down the infamous liar Richard Nixon.)
