Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Low Bar

It's amusing and amazing to listen to the right-wing apologists furiously spin Sunday's second debate as a "win" for Trump.  "It was his best debate performance to date!"  "He stopped the bleeding!"  Etc., etc., blah blah blah.  And whatever.

Once again, Hillary did fine and Trump was Trump -- a sexist asshole who's rude, wrong, lying, and denying.  He threw red meat to his foamy-mouth faithful by ripping her and calling her every name in the book, but so what?  That crowd, those irredeemables, those deplorables, are going to vote for him no matter what.

He had a winning debate performance only in the sense that he didn't punch anybody or shit in his pants.  It's a really low bar.
