Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Obama and the Rev. Wright (2008)

(From the Buster Gammons column of 3/24/08)

In another example of just how helpful religion can be, Barack Obama is already being swift-boated with a 5 year old, 30 second video clip of his preacher saying some stupid shit. And Obama’s not even the nominee yet. But if he is, you can bet we’ll hear plenty more of Rev. Wright “goddamning” this and that. And if it’s Hillary, we’ll get a replay of Whitewater and Jennifer Flowers and Paula Jones and Monica’s thong and cigars and cum shots on the blue dress. Oh joy!

Obama felt the need to address his preacher problem, and did so with a magnificent speech asking all of us to look past such bullshit noise and subterfuge. Buster hopes the American voters do just that, but it’s doubtful. After all, the Bushies held on to the White House in ’04 with a platform which basically said: You should be very afraid of gay married terrorists who favor abortion rights. And the gullible masses swallowed that nonsense! Pardon me, I have to puke.

Elsewhere, John McCain acknowledged he can’t remember who the bad guys are and whether they’re in Iraq or Iran or wherever, so his platform is to bomb the holy living fuck out of everything, just to be safe.
