Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

No Integrity Left

Donald Drumpf has never been qualified to serve as our president, and since launching his campaign has said and done countless things to disqualify himself.  Lately, he's been on a purely idiotic roll -- slamming "Mexican" judges who aren't "fair" to little Donnie, and pointing out "my African American over there" at a recent speech.

In a lame, ghost-written, teleprompter speech tonight in front of a small crowd at his own N.Y. golf club (do we want a president who has his own golf clubs?), Humpty Trumpty said he'd "rebuild the inner cities" and told his assembled white supporters that "we're going to take care of our African American people."  ("Our"?  Really, Donald?  You think using the possessive pronoun is a good idea?)

Jesus!  Donald Trump is the biggest racist asshole to make it this far in U.S. politics since George Wallace.  (And if you don't agree how thoroughly racist Trump is, you're a racist too.)

It's been both pathetic and amusing to watch the GOP establishment squirm and try to cope with Trump's blatant play for uneducated white male rednecks.  He's been endorsed by the likes of Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, John McCain, Bob Corker, Rob Portman, Chris Christie, John Boehner, Newt Gingrich, and a host of other big-wigs in D.C., all in the name of "party unity."

As Trump spewed his latest batch of racism, none of the aforementioned would disavow him, or reverse their endorsements of him, or admit that he was a goddam racist loser.  (Gingrich came closest, and Ryan half-assed it earlier today.)  They didn't "like" what he said, they didn't "agree" with it, they thought it was "unwise," but no matter -- they just wouldn't/couldn't abandon their spectacularly unfit dipshit nominee, and were convinced he could "pivot" toward sanity.

The GOP just won't call a spade a spade.  They can't.  They will "support" Trump.  There's no integrity left in the Republican Party.

Today, I believe Hillary Clinton will crush Donald Trump like a grape in November, and I believe a crushing is just what's called for.  There's a lesson to be taught.

"Down-ballot" Republicans should be worried.  Robbie Portman, you little worm, I'm lookin' at you!
