Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Makers Vs. Takers

Corporatists like Romney and Ryan often refer to "Makers vs. Takers", especially at this moment.

According to them, 47% of Americans are simply government dependents who think of themselves as victims and take no personal responsibility for their own lives. Oh, mercy, way too many "takers"!

Romney, Ryan and their corporate sponsors are, of course, the "makers" -- the magically brilliant job-creators who make the world go 'round. This is also precisely the same group that insists on receiving (and often does receive) government subsidies and tax cuts out the ass so they can continue to be "makers".

This Makers vs. Takers stuff is divisive bullshit! We are all a bit of both, and that's OK. That's how our society is supposed to be, and how it works the best for the most.
