Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Dipshits Who Wanted To Be President, Weekend Edition

Saturday: Former Senator and GOP presidential primary candidate Rick Santorum returned to his "happy place", the Values Voters Summit, a conglomeration of far-right social and religious conservatives. Santorum told the attendees, "We will never have the elite, smart people on our side." True dat, Ricky. Why would any sensible person care to join in your celebration of stupidity?

(When I was training director of a local company in the 1980's, a small plaque hung on my office wall. It read: "Ignorance can be fixed. Stupid is forever.")

Sunday: Current Senator and former GOP presidential candidate John McCain appeared on Face The Nation to lambaste President Obama for his foreign policy "weakness." McCain has a long history of seeing military action as the solution to every problem. At the moment, the Israeli right is foaming at the mouth about Iran's nuclear capabilities, while Obama remains calm. McCain said we must "reestablish American leadership" by letting well-known belligerent Bebe Netanyahu tell us exactly who to bomb, and when.

Neither of these dipshits ever came close to occupying the Oval Office. Good!
