Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Success?

Trump, McConnell, Grassley, Hatch, Graham and the rest of the GOP's old white men (plus old white Susan) succeeded.  They succeeded in making a mockery of the Supreme Court.  They have politicized it to such a hyper-partisan degree as to destroy its credibility -- obviously and intentionally, they've made the Court into just another ideological tribal bloc, especially on its conservative wing.

In Kavanaugh, the Republicans picked themselves a turd, then refused to flush it.  Instead, they insisted it smelled like a rose and gave it a robe and a gavel.

This morning, the nattering nabobs on TV told me that the R's consider this travesty a huge "win" and are now all fired up and enthusiastic about how their shameful episode could possibly help them in the midterms.

If you agree with the slimy tactics of Trump, McConnell, et al; if you agree with Kavanaugh's confirmation; if you agree that this was a big win and that winning at any cost is all that ever matters, I pity you.

Don't forget that Democrats and independents are even more fired up and enthusiastic, and for much better reasons.

See you November 6th.
