Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Another Letter To My Cowardly Senator

TO:  Sen. Rob Portman, R-OH
TOPIC:  Vote NO on Kavanaugh
_______________________________________

Hello, Senator, it's me again.  Although I'm a constituent, my emails are probably on your "delete immediately" list.  Nevertheless, I persist.

Brett Kavanaugh is damaged goods, through no one's fault but his own.  He's a proven, habitual liar, and often under oath -- about receiving stolen documents, about his role in torture policy and warrantless wiretapping, about his work to nominate right-wing judges to federal courts, about his own judicial philosophy, about his drinking and gambling and debts, and about his high school and college years.  The FBI is probing sexual assault allegations against him, and I believe he's lying about that too.

The more we learn about Kavanaugh, the less trustworthy he becomes.  His deep-in-the-weeds conspiracy theories and his sneering, bellicose temperament, on full public display last week, are nowhere near judicial.  All these things should disqualify him from a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court (or any other court).  He's obviously unfit.

Yet you say you still support him and will vote to confirm him?  What the hell is wrong with you, Robbie?  Are you blinded by your foolish loyalty to Mitch McConnell?  Beholden to his senseless partisan promise "plow on through" with Kavanaugh no matter what?

McConnell is dead wrong on this.  I heard him stand on the Senate floor this morning whining about how those dirty Democrats are obstructing his rush to quickie-confirm Kavanaugh, and are ruining Good Saint Brett's reputation with "muck and mud."

Image result for quinnipiac poll should the senate confirm kavanaughWhat in the name of Merrick Garland is McConnell talking about?  Does he think we're stupid?  This sort of crap is why McConnell is the least popular politician in America.  Mitch himself is the biggest obstructor in history.  As for Kavanaugh's reputation, Boofy Brett ruined it all by himself.  Any muck and mud is of his own making.

So please don't try to pull a fast one.  Brett Kavanaugh is no good.  Public opinion is against him, and his approval numbers are sinking like a stone.  You are my representative.  I demand you vote NO on Kavanaugh's confirmation.  Find an honest, trustworthy nominee.
