Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

The Longest 35 Feet In History

From the very start, the Ferguson police authorities claimed the "entire scene" of the Michael Brown shooting was no more than 35 feet in length, from where Officer Wilson's patrol car stopped to where Brown's body lay dead in the street.

Check out this seldom-seen panoramic photo taken shortly after Brown fell.

Wilson's vehicle is circled in red.  Brown is at far right, with Wilson and another officer standing nearby.

Does that look like 35 feet to you?  Me neither.  Turns out it's more like 150 feet.

You may draw your own conclusions as to why the Ferguson cops are such poor judges of distance.
