Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Clintonville Kangaroos Are In Jeopardy

The City of Columbus has no sense of humor!

Clintonville is a residential section in north Columbus.  Around four years ago, an area resident noticed an orange "construction zone" sign on Clinton Heights Ave., left in place long after the work was completed.  As a joke, he replaced the old sign with a yellow and black "kangaroo crossing" sign he bought online.

He figured his kangaroo sign would be taken down quickly.  Instead it stayed put for years and became a source of amusement and curiosity for the locals.  But the city finally noticed and yesterday workers from Columbus Public Service were sent to remove it.  A safety issue, they said.  Party poopers!

Clintonville residents are chagrined and are trying to work with the city to restore their beloved kangaroo crossing sign.

Until then, the Clintonville kangaroos will hop in mortal danger and the neighborhood streets may become littered with bloody 'roo road kills.  The horror, the horror!
