Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Friday Evening With Sherrod Brown

On Friday evening, the lovely Mrs. Gammons and I joined a hundred-or-so supporters at a happy hour fundraiser for our Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.  It was held at a small local distillery/bar/restaurant.  The senator spoke for a bit, took a few questions, and mingled easily with the crowd.  We had a great time and met some good people.

The lovely Mrs. Gammons, your humble correspondent,
and Sen. Sherrod Brown
As boys in Mansfield, Ohio, Sherrod and I attended the same church and junior high school, and were part of a high school group that toured Great Britain.  He was the smartest, funniest guy on that long-ago tour bus.  Today, he's a real leader in the U.S. Senate, and he's still smart and funny.  I'm proud to know him.
