Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Hang On, Billionaires, Help Is On The Way!

The GOP's new tax scheme is an unfunded give-away to the wealthy which will increase the federal deficit by $1.5 trillion.  Bill Maher nailed it like so:

Someone asked Paul Ryan, "When did Republicans stop caring about deficits and the national debt?"  And he explained that, "After careful consideration, the current president is white . . .  and rich."

"$450 K is not middle class?  We don't friggin'care!
Bwaah-ha-ha-ha!"
And in a related item, when House R's Paul Ryan and Dr. Evil announced their bright idea on Thursday, they issued a "fact" sheet referring to Americans earning $450,000 a year as "low- and middle-income."  That amount of income would rank in the top 0.05% of all American earners.  Median household income in the U.S. is $59,000.
