Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

The Wisdom Of Plato (And George, Too)

The penalty good people pay for political ignorance is being governed by people worse than themselves. -- Plato

Where do our politicians come from? They come from American parents, American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American business and American universities, and they're elected by American citizens.  It's what our system produces:  If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.

So maybe it's not the politicians who suck.  Maybe something else sucks around here.  Like the public. -- George Carlin
