He said he can't wait until we have self-driving cars, then added, "I knew we'd have a flying car when I watched 'Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang.' "
Asked for his message to law enforcement, Kasich said, "We love firemen and policemen. . . . Up in Cleveland, there was a police chase of a car . . . and they shot into the car a bunch of times." Speaking of one officer in that incident who climbed onto the hood of the car to discharge his weapon, Kasich said, "The jury thought that was all right."
[In the 2012 incident, Cleveland police mistook an engine backfire for gunfire, chased the car down and riddled it with 137 bullets, killing two innocent and unarmed occupants. Officer Michael Brelo stood on the car hood and fired 15 shots through the windshield. Although he was acquitted at trial in 2015, he was fired by the city in 2016 along with five other officers involved in the killings.]
Kasich also spoke about the 2014 killing of twelve year-old Tamir Rice by a Cleveland police officer, who subsequently was not even criminally charged: "If you pound on law enforcement and disrespect them, no good can come from that."
[Strange, but I don't recall Tamir Rice pounding on anyone or disrepecting anyone. I recall him being shot dead in under two seconds.]
Ah, this is the Jawhnny Wonder-Guv I've come to know and love . . . to hate.
