Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

"We Wanna Be Politically Incorrect!"

Donald Trump has been insisting that our country's "biggest problem" is Political Correctness.  It's not, of course, but the idea makes a nice dog whistle for the ignorant, fearful, white right.  Those are Trump's people.  Some refer to them as "disenfranchised."  I can think of other descriptions.

To them, Trump's "let's be anti-PC" message is permission to say nigger, spic, beaner, chink, gook, kike, heebie, towel-head, camel-jockey, red-dot, dago, hunky, mick, fish-eater, etc., just like Grandma and Grandpa did back in the good old days.  Because that'll make America great again.

Trump may play in Peoria, but here's an example of how he plays elsewhere:

"Vulgarity on an epic scale" -- Well-said!  Is Trump too much?  Has he finally gone too far?  Some conservatives are shifting to Ted Cruz as a sort of evangelical Trump-Lite.  Although with his array of similarly hate/fear-based positions, Cruz is not all that "lite."  And seriously, what is that shit in his hair?  Brylcreem?  Republican hairstyles are hilarious!  The human oil slick is reportedly on top in Iowa at the moment.

This primary season, the R's are holding a "more-wing-nuttier-than-thou" contest.  But that's typical.  Remember who won the 2012 GOP Iowa caucus?  Rick Santorum!  Icky Ricky, the unelectable religious idiot.  They go for that shit in Iowa.  Cruz is the 2016 version of Icky Ricky.

Long way to go.
