Debe Terhar is the President of the State of Ohio Board of Education. She was elected to the post and is a hand-picked personal favorite of Gov. John Kasich. She's a Republican, of course, from Cincinnati and is a Tea-Bag extremist and an advocate for charter schools.
Recently, she criticized Obama's gun control position on her Facebook page and posted a photo of Hitler, instructing her FB friends to "Never forget what this tyrant said: 'To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens.' -- Adolph Hitler"
I've noticed the same stupid comment from gun nuts on numerous websites, but it's just charming as hell when it comes from the state's top education official. Is this how you wish to educate us, Debe?
Terhar said she wasn't comparing Obama to Hitler, she was just "encouraging people to examine history." Bullshit! Really offensive bullshit!
She also said that "disarming citizens has happened throughout history" (It has not happened in the U.S. or any other free nation.), and the "true intention of the 2nd Amendment is to protect us from a tyrannical government." (It is not.)
If she has a shred of integrity, Debe Terhar will resign immediately.
A final thought on what Kay-suck hath wrought:
He's put unqualified right-to-life wackos on the State Medical Board.
His PUCO chief is a global-warming denier.
His head of ODNR is a former executive and lobbyist for AEP.
The chief of the Ohio Dept. of corrections worked for a private prison company.
The Ohio EPA head is a former executive for mega-polluter Perdue Chicken.
The president of the State Board of Ed is a gun-crazoid who thinks Obama is Hitler.
Great job, Governor!

ReplyDeleteThe problem is that the Hitler quote shared by Terhar and many others is wrong. The actual quote is as follows:
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so. Indeed I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order."
- Adolf Hitler, April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitlers Tischegesprache Im Fuhrerhauptquartier 1941-1942. [Translation: Hitler's Table-Talk at the Fuhrer's Headquarters 1941-1942], Dr. Henry Picker, ed. (Athenaum-Verlag, Bonn, 1951)
NOTE: HITLER WAS WORRIED ABOUT MILITIAS! (not individual gun owners . . .)
Now the Hitler quote makes sense, being worried about organized para-military bodies (militias), and corresponds to the reason why the founding fathers wanted to make sure MILITIAS were legal and viable!
