Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

New Rules

These new rules really suck because:
They're from Mitch McConnell and the GOP.
They're not from Bill Maher.

New Rules For Installing Supreme Court Justices
1.  The majority party in the U.S. Senate will absolutely and completely control who gets to be a Supreme Court Justice, period.  No exceptions.  The minority party can go piss up a rope.
2.  All nominees to the Court will ignore their own track record and pretend to be neutral and unbiased in every possible way.  They will claim all questions are "hypothetical" and refuse to answer any of them.
3. Once confirmed by the Senate majority in a strict party-line vote, the new Justice will do exactly what the Federalist Society wants and expects him to do -- he'll be a predictable, reliable, totally partisan ideological hack.

It's the way things are, and things suck.  Confirmation hearings are a Kabuki theater joke.  The outcome is predetermined.  Justice will be denied.  All we can hope for is our turn.
