Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Trump's Free Speech

"Escorts"
At a Donald Trump campaign event yesterday in North Augusta, South Carolina, a protester held up a hand-lettered sign that read, "Keep America Great.  Keep All Immigrants."  The young man was immediately set upon by Trump supporters, who shoved him around and tore up his sign.  Then they grabbed him and forcibly "escorted" him from the room. As he departed, the protester silently gave the Donald two middle finger flip-offs.  Ooh! A bird in both hands!  Fuck you squared!  Double down on this!

"Oh, that's class," said the infamously vulgar (and irony-free) Trump.  "Isn't that terrible?"

As the crowd roared its agreement, Trump asked two of the men who ejected the protester (or as Trump put it, "took action") to join him up on the stage, where the thugs were allowed to ramble incoherently about the glory of all things Trump.

This is the state of conservative America ('Murica) right now:
  • Free speech if you agree with me.
  • But if you disagree or protest, you are roughed up and tossed out on your ass.
And the thin-skinned, tiny-fingered, fascist torture fan just stands there smiling, giving his not-so-tacit approval to the whole damn thing.

This has happened several times already at Trump rallies.  It's ugly, bottom-feeder, bully behavior and it may be fairly compared to similar episodes in world history.  Not a comforting thought.

Although Trump is a huge buffoon, he's also pure, unadulterated nasty.  It's hard to laugh at him anymore.
