Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Something's Wrong

Facebook is a never-ending source of amusement, disappointment, and too much information.  A couple days ago, an acquaintance saw fit to share this meme on her page.  I saw fit to respond/comment "No."  I usually don't take the bait with this sort of ignorant shit, but what I really wanted to say was, "Hell, no!  No fuckin' way!  What's wrong with you?"

Officer Wilson fired his weapon because he wanted to, not because he had to.  He has been shielded, protected and coached every step of the way.  He had months to get his story together.  The county prosecutor led the grand jury down the primrose path.  The whole affair has been an obvious and gross miscarriage of justice.

If you can't see it, if you really agree that Wilson should just walk with no indictment and no trial, I think you're willfully blind.  Or prejudiced.  Or you believe that cops can do no wrong.  Maybe all of the above.

The ABC network paid Wilson a six-figure fee for his exclusive "story," after which Wilson promptly resigned from the Ferguson PD.  Surprised?

Here's no surprise:  Amadou Diallo (shot 41 times in NYC), Eric Garner (the NYC choke-hold death), Michael Brown, John Crawford III (the Dayton-area Walmart shooting), Tamir Rice (the Cleveland kid).  And that's just what comes to mind at the moment.  Since Mike Brown's death, 14 more unarmed kids have been killed by police.  More to follow.  Something's wrong.

Question:  Do cops ever kill unarmed white people?
