Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Tycoon's Logic

Those who staunchly oppose individual income taxes, corporate income taxes, Social Security and Medicare taxes are, by and large, the same people who oppose the minimum wage, equal pay for equal work, and all forms of public assistance.

It's odd, I think.  The divide between the haves and have-nots has never been wider.  The truly rich, who've never been wealthier, believe they need more breaks and more money to be adequately motivated.  They also believe that the poorest, most vulnerable among us need fewer breaks and less money to become fully motivated.
