Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Somebody Stuff A Sock In Scalia!

According to Supreme Court Justice and right-wing gasbag Antonin Scalia, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is "a perpetuation of racial entitlements."

"Am I wrong?  Am I offensive?  Ask me if I give a shit."

Voting is a racial entitlement?  That's an odd way to look at it.

Wasn't it a certain "racial entitlement" which made the Voting Rights Act necessary in the first place?  You know, the one where white people could vote but black people couldn't?

They may not like voting entitlements, but Scalia, Thomas, Alioto, Kennedy and Roberts seem to be just fine with financial entitlements and protections (Citizens United v. FEC; "Corporations are people").  In their version of America, you get all the justice you can afford!

Is there any way, short of homicide, to get rid of a Supreme Court Justice?
