Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

"Be Careful What You Wish For . . . "

An emailed comment on the DHS funding fiasco from a faithful reader rates its own post.  Thank you, faithful reader!

"Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."  In 2010, the Republican Party did just that when they hatched a plan to take over state governments and "gerrymander" themselves into a Republican majority for at least the coming ten years.  What the Republicans failed to fully recognize were the consequences of their action when they systematically and unwittingly shifted the center of the electorate in every Congressional and State legislative district in order to achieve "complete control".

Today, the Republican Party cannot control what they created.  They have what amounts to a "Political Frankenstein" that cannot govern and makes the GOP appear to be completely unreasonable, uncontrollable, and, at times (most of the time), crazy .

Eventually, the Republican Party will pay for their stupidity. The bigger problem is, so will the rest of us.
