Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

"Periods For Pence"

If at first Mike Pence doesn't succeed,  the Republican governor of Indiana will try, try again to get away with some hateful, piece-of-shit legislation.

You'll recall that about a year ago, Gov. Pence signed into law one of those homophobic "religious freedom" bills designed to allow anti-LGBT discrimination.  (Mississippi did the same thing just a few days ago.)  The Indiana gay-hate law went over like a lead balloon, and Pence had to immediately "amend" it, i.e. scrap it.

Well, Indiana R's and Pence have done it again.  This time, the right-tards have come up with one the most punitive, severe and unnecessary anti-abortion laws ever.  It imposes a total ban on abortions sought for reasons of gender, race, or fetal abnormalities such as Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, dwarfism, mycrocephaly, etc.  It requires women seeking an abortion to listen to a fetal heartbeat and view an ultrasound 18 hours prior to the procedure.  Fetal remains must now be buried or cremated.  And of course, it includes the completely bogus "hospital admitting privileges" requirement.

The ACLU is suing the state already.  Pence, you've done it again!

A group of Hoosier women have come up with a clever way to express their displeasure with their governor and his idiot state legislature.  They call it "Periods For Pence."  On their Facebook page, they suggest women call the governor's office to report the status of their menstrual cycle:

"Since fertilized eggs can be expelled during a woman's period, and any period could potentially be an unknown miscarriage, we should contact Gov. Pence to report our periods.  We wouldn't want him thinking we're trying to hide anything, would we?"

Women are reportedly flooding his office with phone calls, emails and posts to the governor's Facebook page.  His office phone now rings busy at all times.

You go, girls!  These dumb fuckwits deserve every bit of sarcastic hell you can give them!
