Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

Chicken Cock Is Back!

While doing a web search for something completely unrelated, I stumbled upon this and had to share.  It appeared in the Mansfield, Ohio News Journal in February of 1936.

"Chicken Cock is back!"  And chicken hens are happy.

Prohibition ended in December 1933, and I guess it took a bit of time for some distilleries to get back up to speed.

At the bottom of the ad, note the composition of Chicken Cock:  25% is whiskey aged for 3 years and 10 months (not quite 4 years, but close enough!), 5% is indeed 4 year old whiskey, and the remaining 70% is grain neutral spirits made fresh this morning!

Smooth!

Below are two short videos featuring more smooth -drinking whiskey.
