Welcome to Buster's Blog

Irregular commentary on whatever's on my mind -- politics, sports, current events, and life in general. After twenty years of writing business and community newsletters, fifteen years of fantasy baseball newsletters, and two years of email "columns", this is, I suppose, the inevitable result: the awful conceit that someone might actually care to read what I have to say. Posts may be added often, rarely, or never again. As always, my mood and motivation are unpredictable.

MVP's Of Conscience

Like so many, I was tickled that the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.  The Patriots have had more than their share of success, so let somebody else have a turn.  Also, Pats owner Bob Kraft is a good friend of Agent Orange, so screw 'em!

And now I'm happy that at least three Eagles will not go to the White House for the traditional winners' photo-op with the president.  As a matter of principle, DB Malcolm Jenkins, DE Chris Long, and WR Torrey Smith are refusing to be a part of Deplorable Don's Freak Show.  Any other president, yes.  But this one, hell no!

Good for them!  It's tough to turn down a chance to visit the White House, but they can't stomach the thought of shaking hands with the tiny-fingered, racist vulgarian in an overblown PR ritual.  They just won't compromise their personal integrity, which makes them winners outside the game, MVP's of conscience.
